| VHJOE On-Line
VHJOE Volume 2 has now been published. Hopefully,
readers will be able to both enjoy the journal and link into
the Visible Human database. We hope that the VHJOE will be
a forum for education in EUS as well as relational anatomy.
An added bonus of the journal is the ability to capture images
from the database in .jpg format, allowing one to build a
personal file of normal anatomic images. An example is illustrated
below. This image shows the common bile duct and portal vein
similar to the way it would be seen by radial EUS at the apex
of the duodenal bulb.
The VHJOE launch in January was the primary
focus of the various participants and the editorial board
at VHJOE for nearly 18 months. With the second issue of VHJOE,
our next phase begins, with the regular release of case reports
and other associated articles. In this volume, an excellent
expert review on the EUS finding and management of pancreatic
pseudocysts is presented by Dr W. Brugge, of the Massachesetts
General hospital in Boston. We hope our readers find these
reviews helpful additions to their ongoing education.
We are currently soliciting case reports
for future editions of VHJOE. We are interested in quality
reports with pertinent EUS images and hopefully, links to
normal anatomy through the Visible Human Oblique Maker tool
which is included with the journal. VHJOE is intended to be
image rich so correlating images, including radiographs, CT-scans,
histology and endoscopic pictures are desired. For examples
of what pertinent articles can include, please see the case
reports in volume 1. Guidelines for submission can be found
in the instructions to authors link on the front page.
We intend to publish 3-6 case reports with
each volume of VHJOE. The electronic format allows quite a
bit of liberty in that regard, so the numbers can be higher
or lower depending on the quality of submissions during a
given period of time.
We are also interested in identifying reviewers
for future articles, as all case reports are reviewed by a
minimum of two readers. The review process is designed to
be completed entirely on-line through the journal web site.
Reviewers will have an extra window on the front page of VHJOE
which can be opened in the same manner as the author tool.
For those interested in being identified as reviewers, please
notify us at pubvhjoe@uchsc.edu
or edvhjoe@uchsc.edu.
We will add you to our list and modify your VHJOE face page.
