Sagital Images of the Pancreas

Video Clip 1: View starting at the left side of abdomen, following the splenic vein to the portal confluence.

This issue's featured Visible Human Anatomy Movie consists of a trip through the pancreas in the sagital image plane. These images contain important features used in EUS exams and in other imaging procedures used to stage pancreatic malignancies.

The movie (Videoclip 1) starts in the left side of the abdomen near the pancreatic tail and finishes just past the pancreatic head in the right side of the abdomen. The splenic vein is followed to the portal confluence.

Three Visible Human images with links into the database are shown below (Figures 1-3). These images are approximately found in the movie. Detailed interactive anatomy can be obtained by clicking on the link shown. Readers are encouraged to enter the interactive data base to help them identify structures of interest found within the movie.
